FAQs for Data Collectors

1. What is this work about?

   • You will help us collect responses for a City Bus Service Experience Survey in Guwahati. The survey questionnaire has around 50 close-ended questions and takes about 8–10 minutes per respondent.

2. Who can apply?

   • College students and young volunteers who are confident, polite, and comfortable approaching people in public places like bus stops, markets, and colleges.

3. What are the working hours and duration of the survey work?

   • Work as per your convenience during normal working hours

   • Monday to Saturday only

   • No work on weekends and public holidays.

   • The survey work will run for 10 to 15 days
     
     

4. Where will I work?

   • You’ll be assigned specific locations/wards such as bus stops, markets, offices, educational institutes, and busy areas in Guwahati. You can suggest locations as well.

5. How will I collect responses?

   • Use the Google Form provided by our team.

   • Ask questions to the respondent and fill in their answers.

   • Take a GPS-stamped photo of the environment (using GPS Map Camera app).

   • Ensure the survey is complete and valid.
     
     

6. Is respondent consent needed?

   • Yes. Always introduce yourself, explain the purpose, and take verbal consent. Photos of respondents can be taken only if they agree. Otherwise, capture the survey environment.

7. How much can I earn?

   • You will get a Base Pay + Pay per response:

     • ₹100 per day base pay (minimum security). – To be eligible for this base pay, you must collect at least 10 responses per day. 

   • Pay per response:

     • 1–10 responses → ₹10 each

     • 11–20 responses → ₹15 each

     • 21–30 responses → ₹20 each

     • 31–40 responses → ₹25 each

   • On average, if you collect 25 valid responses a day, you can earn about ₹450–₹500 daily (including base pay + incentives). 

   • If you collect more (30–40 responses), you can earn ₹600–₹800 in a day. 

   • Bonus for Top Performers

     • Apart from your daily earnings, we will reward the Top 3 performers (those who collect the highest number of valid responses during the entire survey period):

       • 🥇 1st Place → ₹1,500 bonus

       • 🥈 2nd Place → ₹1,200 bonus

       • 🥉 3rd Place → ₹1,000 bonus

     • This is in addition to your regular payments — meaning if you work sincerely and collect more responses, you can boost your total income significantly.
       
       

8. What is a “valid response”?

   • A survey is valid only if:

     • All questions are filled in (no blanks unless optional).

     • Conducted during working hours.

     • GPS-stamped photo is uploaded.

     • Logical answers (e.g., no 10-year-old reporting as a working professional).

     • No duplicates (same respondent only once).

     • Invalid responses will not be paid.

9. How will data collection be done and updated?

   • Responses will have to be collected and updated through the Google Form link from your own smartphone or tablet. You must have an active mobile data connection. Mobile data charges will be your own responsibility. Please note that there will be no paper-based data collection process. 

10. Who will guide me?

    • Our Coordinator and Lead will guide you through training, assign areas, check your progress, and help solve problems in the field.

11. Do I need training before starting?

    • Yes. A half-day online orientation session will cover:

      • How to use the form.

      • How to take GPS-stamped photos.

      • Field etiquette & safety.

      • Practice mock surveys.
        
        

12. How will payments be made?

    • Payments released weekly after validation.

    • Sent via Bank transfer.
      
      

13. Will I get a certificate?

    • Yes! Certificate of Participation for all who complete the assignment.

    • Special recognition for top performers.
      
      

14. Will I receive an ID card?

    • Yes, a temporary ID card will be issued to you. This must be returned once your data collection assignment is completed. The final payment will be released only after the ID card is returned. 

15. Will I be working alone? Is it safe?

    • You don’t have to work alone — data collectors can work in pairs (teams of two) if they prefer. Since surveys are done in public places during the day, it’s safe, and working with a teammate makes it even more comfortable.

16. Can I work with my friend?

    • Yes! Both of you need to apply separately and get approved by our team. Payments will be made individually, based on the number of valid responses each person collects.
